Music by the Mountain Road Ceili Band with dances called by Maureen Mulvey. Join us for an afternoon of song, dance and tunes.
The Guelph Celtic Orchestra's Annual St. Patrick's Extravaganza, Royal Canadian Legio, 57 Watson Pkwy S, Guelph ON, 7 pm.
Performance by the GCO, directed by Fiona McCairley with champion stepdancers. This will be followed by a ceilidh dance for all ages with caller Maureen Mulvey O'Leary. Featuring storyteller Bruce Carmody and fiddler Stephen Fuller. A bewitching evening of fireside storytelling and music from the world of Celtic folklore. Come gather around to hear eerie tales of old Ireland, enjoy traditional fiddle tunes and the atmosphere of a unique historic site.
$27 adults,; $22 youth, students and seniors; pre-registration is strongly recommended.
Light snacks, tea and hot cider will be served during the break.

Heritages of Hunger: Ireland's Great Famine, Then and Now
A lecture by Dr. Marguerite Corporaal, Associate Professor in English Literature, Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands
The lecture will cover three significant themes in relation to the famine legacies: spectacles of starvation, class conflict, and emigration, including the significance of the Great Famine in Canada's Irish diaspora.
